No attempt made to enrich the
curriculum
The
school head has made no, or almost negligible, attempt to create/customize
the school curriculum. The school does not even fulfill all the requirements
of the annual curriculum as prescribed by the government/board.

Attempt at achieving completeness
of curriculum
School head has made attempts to make the curriculum complete,
to incorporate prescribed
curricular and co-curricular activities, but the number and variety is far
below the expected level. Improvements are necessary in the variety of curricular options, co-curricular
activities, scheduling of events, deployment of teachers and resource utilization.
More participatory and comprehensive approach is needed.

Curriculum focuses on comprehensiveness and participation
Attempts are made to
make the curriculum more comprehensive, the curriculum planning done with
improved participation; balance of instructional activities and
co/extra-curricular activities is evident. However, there is no attempt to do
anything out of the ordinary and it fulfills only the minimum expectations of
curricular balance and variety. Need for an
annual review of previous year’s curriculum plan, its achievements and
failures to be discussed before drawing the new plan.

Attempt to enrich
curriculum through out - of - classroom practices, self-evaluation of
curriculum plan is periodic
The school head has managed to enrich the curriculum through
out-of-classroom activities. The curricular and co-curricular content is
properly aligned to the national guidelines, and the academic calendar is
scheduled with proper load and variety of activities. The curriculum is
well-balanced, and shows a blend of contemporary trends and traditional
practices, progressive and flexible to accommodate changing needs, supported
with latest educational technologies and information systems. Periodic
evaluation followed by the implementation of corrective measures based on feedback
from evaluation is evident, and the next year’s plan takes care of addressing
these issues.

Attempts to establish
centre of excellence
The school head has created a unique curriculum plan that
distinguishes the school from other schools. Focused efforts to identify and
establish areas of excellence, enriched curriculum with innovative and
focused practices aimed at building competency in the identified areas and
building the school’s identity as a resource center. There is a unique system
to identify the shortcomings in the curriculum plan; and a mechanism to
demonstrate continuous improvement through monitoring and tracking of
effective corrections and scheduled monitoring of the effectiveness of
feedback. Successful efforts to showcase the unique curriculum planning
process to other schools.
