B1.2.2   Governance à Vision, Goal setting, Planning and Decision making à School’s goals and plans

Rating
A
Not Demonstrated

Planning process is not demonstrated
There are no defined short term and long term institutional goals aligned with the school’s vision, no strategic plans, and there is no standard process for budget preparation.
B
Developing

The plan is based on the school improvement policy  but not aligned with the institutional/state/national goals
Attempts are made to create school plan but is not with defined objectives. Plan does not confirm the school’s ethos, culture and aims. It does not reflect the institutional/ state/ national goals. There is no mechanism to monitor and evaluate the school’s progress against identified success criteria.
C
Proficient

Plans reflect the institutional/state/national goals; based on the school improvement policy, routine self-evaluation of school plans
There are strategic plans and policies that reflect institutional/ national/ state goals (long term/short term) and there is an annual plan and budget. Self evaluation of school plan by committee is routine. However there is lack of effective feedback from evaluation. Also, there are gaps such as absence of contingency planning, financial plans and budget needs frequent amendments, financial plans and budget not aligned with the strategic plans and institutional goals.
D
Accomplished

Plans aligned with the institutional/state/national goals, proper prioritization of requirements and contingency plans, practice of self as well as peer evaluation of school plan, leading to sustained improvement
There are strategic plans and policies that reflect institutional/ national/ state goals (long term/short term) as well as annual plans and budget with proper contingency plans. The financial planning involves identification, and prioritization of short term and long term requirements in line with the strategic plans and institutional goals. Continuous tracking and monitoring of effectiveness of changes made in the strategy of school plan for the benefit of school is clearly visible.
E
Distinguished

Effective self as well as peer evaluation is an integral part of the school development planning process with the resulting actions and targets captured in School Plans.
Committee has adopted and implemented a demonstrable/exemplary collaborative strategic planning process, including regular reviews. School’s strategic plans and policies are futuristic and address and accommodate long term requirements, and changing needs. The institutional goals are aligned with the strategic plan, taking into consideration the vision, ethics and principles of the institution. The annual plans and school budget emphasize developmental aspects. School effectiveness through periodic evaluation ensures that all those involved in the planning process and delivery have a shared understanding of policies, procedures and practices within the school.
