Rating
A
Not Demonstrated

Decision making does not cover all relevant issues, process is not participatory
There are no or almost negligible signs of a good decision making process. Not all the relevant issues are considered for decisions, decision making is not participatory, and there is no mechanism to track implementation of decisions.
B
Developing

Covers only basic issues, limited participation, no proper prioritization of decisions
Attempts are made to establish and document the decision making process. There is evidence of a documented decision making process, but, members are not fully aware of the rationale behind all decisions made, there is no practice of discussing and confirming priorities, etc.
C
Proficient

Covers relevant issues, is participatory, there is prioritization of decisions, implementation of decisions taken, system to evaluate the decision making process.
There is a system to evaluate the decision making process, however in an arbitrary manner, also evidence of feedback mechanism is in place.
D

Covers all relevant issues, consensus-oriented and participatory, proper prioritization, mechanism for tracking implementation of decision taken, system of periodic evaluation.
The SMC discusses and takes decisions on all the relevant school related matters; the decision making process is consensus-oriented and participatory; there is a practice of discussing and confirming priorities; there is a mechanism for monitoring and tracking the implementation of decisions. E
Distinguished

Covers developmental aspects of the school, strong awareness about the rationale of decisions, continuous and well defined evaluation procedures planning for corrective actions for both short term and long term.
The committee discusses and arrives at decisions regarding the developmental aspects of both infrastructure and human resources with a future perspective, SMC members show commendable involvement in decision making, and have a high-level of understanding on the rationale behind all the decisions taken; there is an efficient and demonstrable/ exemplary mechanism to minimize the gap between desired objectives and existing processes of decision making as a result of continuous monitoring and feedback by internal as well as external stakeholders.
